READ FIRST!
So.. you're reading this tut, huh? well, congrats.. coz i've (and Cammy) have a nice little effect to add to YOUR boring blend (okay, so not all of your blends are boring)!

Anyway.. this is one of many nice little effects

(Do not reproduce any part of this tutorial ANYWHERE w/o my permission! It took me LOTS of my precious time xD)

1. Okay.. open up your unfinished blend (unfinished because we'll be adding the text LATER ON, do not add it first, and it should be PSD if you saved it).

This blend is featuring Jessica Biel

2. Now, mine is looking a little plain, so we'll add some *finishing* touches before the masking. I added a little texture.

3. Time to prepare for the masking. select your top layer and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+E all at the same time (this may be hard for you xD). Check your History: The action should say Stamp Visible. Okay, move on.

4. Now, time for masking! Wheeeee! Click on this button near the bottom of the layer palette:

And fill the layer mask white by doing so: select the layer mask picture, set your foreground colour to BLACK and press Alt+Backspace.

You should have these two.

5. Okay, time for the REAL masking.

Select the mask again...

And switch your foreground colour to white. Use any type of brush and paint. See: Your picture appears! When you switch to black, the picture disappears without any real effect on the graphic! Say, you use eraser, and when you decide not to after a while, you can't go back (too many steps in the History) and recover your graphic!

So now you should understand the concept of masking.. this can create beatiful borders and many other delightful graphics..

Experiment!

6. NOW add your text. Here's my result:

I know YZ.. I can't do it any other way xD

But then masks are easy to understand once you get the hang of it.

So, well.. you have to be experienced with Photoshop =D

I think this can be done with PSP as well, just a little different.
