Formula 1 started it season in Bahrain with Michael Schumacher and Felipe Massa on poll and 2nd position for Ferrari. As I am a Ferrari and Schumacher fan, I was thrilled.

However, on the second pit stop, Alonso (driving for Renault) managed to come out first before Schumacher :icon_sad65: and won the race! Felipe Massa made a mistake on his first lap already, overtaken by Alonso immediately afterwards, so no pints for him at all. I guess he has to get use to driving a faster car and not be too over 'bull-dozing' with his eagerness to win the race.

I was kind of dissapointed for Schumacher but at least he came in 2nd. Hopefully the next race he will speed his red car ahead of everyone but the competition is very stiff!

Below is the picture of the podium win:

1st PLACE - ALONSO (Renault)
2nd PLACE - M. Schumacher (Ferrari)
3rd PLACE - Kimi Raikonen (Mercedes)

Don't you think Kimi is cute?!

Never underestimate M. Schumacher! He is 7 times world champion and last year it was his car that didn't perform well. He didn't get where he is today if not for his skills in driving and managing his Ferrari team to keep the team spirit up. Ferrari is like a big family where everyone works together.

You should see other teams. Most of the drivers in the same team are competing among each other, while M.Schumacher managed that he is still the No.1 choice. He makes about Euro 60 million a year! Icon_emotions16

Just the case with Kimi Raikonen and Mercedes. He is very skillful with his Finnish cool character but Mercedes flopped on him- just like they did on the last race but he managed to come all the way to the 3rd place.

I'm in favor of M.Schumacher because he is still motivated to drive and drive at any odds. Do you know it was his brother Ralf that introduced the sports to him and taught him the mechanics of the car! What an irony of life that it is Michael who excels while Ralf keeps on pushing and pushing but never get the chance. It must be terrible for Ralf.

Did you hear the commentor said when Kimi crashed- "I don't know what he did in his previous life but in this life he really has all the bad luck!" That poor guy. Klien crashed on him and he had no chance!

Quotes from 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners:
Quote:
Giancarlo Fisichella, Renault (1st):
“It was a perfect race for me, but it was very tough physically and mentally. It was really, really hot out there and I began to feel it from mid-race onwards. I knew it would be hard but there was no choice but to push all the way to the end. So I did. I didn't want to lose concentration in the last laps, and everything went well, the car and engine were perfect too. I am really so happy for this win. And I am especially pleased because I am dedicating the win to a friend who died last week, Pietro. To have my race engineer Alan Permane on the podium alongside me was special too. Thank you to the whole team, this is a brilliant result.”

Fernando Alonso, Renault (2nd):
“From my point of view, I think things could have been different without the problems in qualifying, but today was about making everything we could from P7 on the grid, and I think we did that. I got a great start, and managed to brake late into turn 1 to get the Williams round the outside. I knew Webber was lighter than me, and would have let him go if he had tried to pass, but we had the speed in spite of the heavy fuel load. After that, it was just a question of pushing and letting the strategy work itself out. I have a special feeling for this circuit, it is a fantastic track, and it has always been good to me. I am very pleased to have 18 points out of a possible 20 after only two races, and we are really looking forward to Melbourne.”

Jenson Button, Honda (3rd):
"I'm obviously pleased to see us back on the podium but it was the top step that we had in mind, so we are a little disappointed. We want to be winning races and today showed that we are in the fight, but there is still a lot of work to be done before we can achieve that target. Having said that, I was held up by traffic a few times, not least of all by Scott Speed before the second pitstop. Had that not happened, maybe I could have come out of the pits ahead of Alonso. Regardless of that though, we have two weeks and a test in Vallelunga to work through our issues and hopefully we can look forward to better things in Melbourne in two weeks' time."

Ferrari doesn't seem to improve on their engine and car performance. =( I was so hoping Schumacher would get at least a 3rd but well... at least he got some points and that's most important. With the change of rules, nobody wants to take risks anymore so sometimes the race like the one in Malaysia was kind of boring. Since I'm a die-hard fan of M. Schumacher, here's a quote from him:

Quote:
Michael Schumacher, Ferrari (6th):
“We can accept this result, considering everything that has happened over the weekend. I don’t think that we could have achieved much more. On my second stint I wasn’t as quick as I was on my first and third one, so now we need to understand the reasons why. All things said and done, the race went basically as I had expected even if one always hopes for something more. During my first pit stop I had to wait a fraction of a second before going out because another car was coming down the pit lane. This was a wise decision from the safety point of view. During the closing stages of the race I was not able to get past Felipe because I just wasn’t fast enough and he didn’t make any mistakes. This track has always been one of the most difficult for us. Melbourne is a completely different circuit and I hope that it will be better suited to our 248 F1. Now I’m going to take a few days off with my wife Corinna before travelling on to Australia.”

I heard that Schumi cheated in last season race. But I forgot how he cheated. He won a podium at USA and everybody wants their money back. It's terrible. But I didn't watch it 'cause I was preparing for my big exam which is UPSR-for 6th graders to test them what they learn from year 1 to year 6. And, I think everybody booed. Or not.

Kimi had bad luck at..... don't remember last season race. Alonso was trying to get the first podium from Kimi. That time, Kimi's tyre almost got out (don't know how to say). But, when there's only a lap, the tyre got out and he is disqualified. What a bummer! Only a lap! And, this yr's race at Sepang, his engine or something burned at the first lap!!!! Poor Kimi.

At least MONTOYA save Mclaren when he got 4th.

Last year’s race in Minneapolis, USA was indeed a scandal. Michelin did not provide safe tyres to 7 out of 10 teams, which caused them to withdraw from the race after the warm-up lap, making people believe they would start but then did not. So was not *SCHUMI* who cheated ==BUT== 7 teams who tried to change the rules of Formula1 just because they had not the right tyres. Luckily the FIA maintained the rules and decided that it is the responsibily of the teams to get proper equiptment.
Schumi won the race, however did not feel happy about the circumstances.

Last year, Kimi was indeed unlucky in many races. The one you referred to was in Germany when his tyre burst at high speed in the last lap of the race. Earlier in the race he damaged that tyre by breaking heavily. Since the rules last year did not allow the change of tyres he had to go on until his luck ran out in the last lap. :::bummer:::
This year in Sepang, it was a lot different because Klien hit his rear tyres and caused Kimi’s car to spin off the track. Both drivers agreed it was unfortunate but a normal race accident.

Got to go. I'm suppoed to be resting in bed!

AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX results:

Alonso is really good and very lucky. This race is so painful for me to watch. Massa driving the second Ferrari crashed just in the 1st lap and Michael Schumacher managed to get to the 5th position, driving like crazy and he got the grip after changing his tyres on the 1st pit stop but lost it after a while, crashing on the wall!!!!

Oh Michael...Michael...Michael.... Icon_favorites18 why are you so unlucky this season again! Icon_00000009 The news said they have to reduce the Ferrari engine capacity but the engineers don't know what causes it yet. Ferrari spends millions of dollars in their cars but bad luck...really, really bad. I wonder if M. Schumacher will retire this season.

Button set about the task of keeping Fisichella behind, and of salvaging the four points that would come to him for finishing in fifth. And, with the flag almost in sight, it looked like his defence had been successful. But cruel fate stepped in and, on the very last corner of the very last lap, Button’s engine let go spectacularly - flame and smoke billowing from the back of his stricken Honda. Fisichella shot past into a lucky fifth place - with the Honda team ordering Button to stop the car before crossing the line to avoid an engine change penalty in San Marino.

Today's race is anything but boring.
Below are the quotes from the race winners:

Quote:
Fernando Alonso, Renault (1st):
“This was a very different race to the other two so far this season. In Bahrain, I was fighting with Michael all the way; in Malaysia, it was Jenson I was battling for second place. But today, it was quite comfortable. There were no fights, and I was very relaxed for a lot of the race. I had a good lead after the first pit-stops, but I lost it during the second safety car. However, I managed to get a good gap on each re-start, and that made life quite easy for me. I was very happy with the balance all the way through the race, so I just needed to make sure I didn’t take any unnecessary risks and I am pleased we were able to save the engine performance for the next race. So far, we have shown we are strong in all conditions on all tracks. But Imola is a very different challenge, and we must have a calm approach, because we know it will be more difficult than ever.”

Kimi Raikkonen, McLaren (2nd):
"Despite not winning I'm really pleased as we now have a package which is level with the Renaults which I think we demonstrated today. The race was rather hectic. I enjoyed a good battle with Juan Pablo at the start, but when I overtook Jenson I flatspotted my right front tyre which caused some vibration. However I was still able to go flat out and keep up with Fernando, but then all of a sudden the footplate on the right hand side of my front wing fractured probably due to the vibration. As a result I started to have severe understeer and lost a lot of time to Fernando. Fortunately with 21 laps to go the Safety Car came out which gave us enough time to go into the pits and change the front wing. I was really pushing, but in the final Safety Car period one of the Midland cars was between Fernando and I, which meant I was unable to get really close to have a go. An enjoyable race and I can't wait for Imola. The team has definitely made great progress with our entire package."

Ralf Schumacher, Toyota (3rd):
"We are all very happy with what we achieved today. The drive-through penalty was my fault because I accidentally hit the button twice but I was lucky and due to the safety car periods we achieved a lot more than we ever thought before this weekend. At the start we were sliding around and locking wheels. But while we've had problems with warming up our tyres in earlier races, others seemed to struggle with that today. Some of the safety car periods were a bit of a fight with all the backmarkers in there but after the third safety car period I gained a couple of places which was great. Grip was hard to come by so I really had to fight the whole race to keep the car there, but it worked out in the end and we achieved a great result. We are still a way from the top teams so we have to work, but I have no doubt that our crew is able to do that. We're strong people and pushing hard so I'm looking forward to the next few races."

Jenson Button:
Quote:
Jenson Button, Honda (10th):
“It’s disappointing to end the weekend as we did today after starting the race in pole position. The way the race panned out with the three safety cars left me struggling for grip after each restart and I lost so much time and so many places. I could feel that something was wrong with the engine in turn 13 and it was a difficult way to end the race after such a long hard battle. The car is strong when we have tyre temperature, but when we don’t we have massive grip problems. We have two weeks of testing before Imola and hopefully we can solve these problems.”

Michael Schumacher:
Quote:
Michael Schumacher, Ferrari (DNF):
“I was pushing to the maximum to try and close on Jenson and pass him. Probably he had some problems as he was not very quick. I tucked in behind him and unexpectedly I got some heavy understeer and finished on the grass. I had to push, because that’s the part of the track where it’s possible to pass. Today, our main problem was keeping the tyres up to temperature, especially in the first part of the race and also because there were a few safety car periods. We had chosen this compound specifically for the race, and once they reached the right operating temperature, they were going well, as was obvious after the pit stop. At first, it was difficult to drive, as after locking the wheels a few times the tyres were completely finished. It’s clear we have a lot of work to do.”
