Two recent news I read about cats:

Beier said the boy was taken to hospital at 5 a.m. on Thursday, when overnight temperatures fell toward zero, and had suffered only mild hypothermia. He said there was no indication of what happened to the boy's mother.

"She had nothing to grip with her claws because it's metal," said Mainline bookkeeper Jessica Hansen, who rescued the cat. "I don't know how she kept from falling out."
Hansen said she and her fellow employees — who named the cat Canada — considered keeping the animal as a mascot, but decided it was too risky with all the trucks around. The James River Humane Society in Jamestown is trying to find it a home.
"I don't want to see her deported now that they've tightened the immigration laws," Society spokeswoman Deb Archambeau joked. "She's sweet and friendly and deserves a good home. She's the sweetest illegal immigrant we've ever met."

I saw a documentary about animal senses prior to the tsunami. A lot of animals survived that catasthrophy :::spelling check::: and some people were saved because of them ~ they ran after the animals.
My dog, Tobie doesn't bark but when she suddenly barks at night, we are sure to know there are some strangers walking outside the house! |

the dog bark when there's a stealer,stranger  warf warf, Myka's neighbor have a dog and soo cute.. fluffy,and when we will go home,he knows where he will go!

yeah..usually..i thought maybe some people..must hav been clever enough 2 see the birds of animals running..mite as well do da same??the tsunami was high..but it was slow..(tats was da news said..but in more professional way)lol..it was soo scary..

cats are so smart!!
in sri lanka some time before the tsunami, the animals of the sri lanka national park ran away so hardly any animals died when the tsunami struck mostly humans did!!

Some people did follow the animals and those who did were somehow more observance and some because they were knowledgable about the signs of tsunami.
My aunt's friend was a skilled sailor and she was in Phuket when it happened. She was saved because in one of her survival training at the sailing school, they were taught the signs of tsunami. When she saw the muddy sea water coming to shore, she shouted to the people at the beach to run to higher ground. She was saved but lost everything.
Tsunami came very suddenly. Most people were NOT AWARE. My family lost some of our staffs in Phuket as their whole island was wipe off. Those girls were my friends who took care and played with me.  Our manager lost her husband and one of her daughter became deaf. Their house was flat to the foundation. She had to live in a make shift tent. Dad wanted to go there immediately but it wasn't possible. Many people waited for help to build back their homes but it was taking a long time. At the end, we helped Auntie Waraphon and her two girls (one of them is my friend and the same age) and raised money to buy her a new house in the middle of the island. Mom and dad invited her and the kids to come live with us but she refused because her parents are still alive.
Until today, people are still afraid of tsunami. It's frightening and at this moment none of us want to have a beach holiday.
So it's not that people weren't fast enough. If you are in the house sleeping ( coz it was on Christmas Day) since it was still quite early, you wouldn't be watching the news and the island of Phuket didn't have an advance Tsunami warning. |
