Thanksgiving is a very big event in the United States, more than Christmas. It is a day to remember the past, to be grateful of the present, of what we are, of what we have. To be with family, to share and to love one another.
So, here's wishing all of you a special Thanksgiving.

i dont celebrate thanksgiving, partly because my family believes that we should be thankful everyday instead of one day a year....and also despite what everyone says, turkey does not taste like chicken!!! :x

Well, it's good to be thankful everyday, but some people don't, that's why they made Thanksgiving Day... :D
I might be making a graphic for it too, is it going to be the next Art Theme in ALLSTARSCLUB?
Anyway, turkey tastes better than chicken :queen: |
hopefully not, its not like thanksgiving day is for a month, we would have to change the theme again the following week

Actually THANKSGIVING is a celebration of bountiful harvest and the end of autumn. During the olden times, if your food harvest was good, it meant a year of food for everyone. If your harvest is bad that year, it meant hunger because in the west we have 4 seasons and if you fail to get a good harvest that year, you would have to wait another year to cast new seeds. That is why the celebration of Thanksgiving was/is important. It meant survival for everyone as they have to go through some bitter winters.
That is what people are thankful of. That the food can be on the table for family and friends to share. The turkey is a symbol because autumn is a hunting season for that bird. You will also see maize and apples on the table because they are harvested in autumn.
That is what THANKSGIVING is all about. To be thankful of what we have with the history behind it. Nowadays, Thanksgiving also means the start of a holiday season. Bussinesses are slowing down in the West and people are more relax. It's just like when the Chinese take a whole month off (especially in Hong Kong) during their Chinese Lunar New Year, people in the west are winding down their bussinesses. |
